Good morning and welcome to another edition of Inspiration Fridays! I have 4 articles today that are all over the place; wind, pie, cities, and crypto. What do they all have in common? I don’t know, but they were all very interesting articles that I enjoyed, and I hope you enjoy them too.
This wildly reinvented wind turbine generates five times more energy than its competitors
That wind turbine is insane-looking! Did y’all see the comparison to like the Eiffel Tower or the Statue of Liberty, I mean wow, that’s crazy! We’ve driven past fields full of normal wind turbines and they don’t even come close to the size of this thing. All in all, I think this would be a really cool idea if they can build and maintain them successfully. Which, if they can maintain oil rigs successfully, I can’t see why they can’t figure this out.
These would be huge for the whole renewable energy market if they can do it efficiently. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not like anti-oil at all. I am, however, pro-diversification. Why is it that so much advice in the world revolves around diversification (investments, skill sets, culture, so forth, and so on) and yet people think we should focus on one single form of energy: oil. God gave us so many things that can create energy, oil being one of them. But we also have water, air, lithium, and that’s not even getting into the nuclear stuff. I don’t know anything about the science of this stuff, but from what I’ve seen, we should be diversifying. This is not a “one energy source to rule them all” kind of thing.
31 Pie Tips From A Professional Baker
https://www.buzzfeed.com/evelinamedina/pie-tips-from-professional-baker
Last week I talked about our love of cinnamon rolls and our desire to make the world’s best homemade ones. Well, there is one other sweet treat that can always win us over and that is pie.
I’ve been striving to learn how to make the best pumpkin pie for some time now and making good strides to get there too. However, the top pie is of course Marie Callendar’s Dutch Apple Pie. If we can make an apple pie better than hers, then we’ve won the pie game hands down. Honestly, it’s both sad and incredible that I’ve never had a homemade apple pie better than hers. We will definitely be trying out some of these tips to see if it will up our pie game this Fall!
Plans for $400-billion new city in the American desert unveiled
https://www.cnn.com/style/article/telosa-marc-lore-blake-ingels-new-city/index.html
Look at that picture! That looks like the future. If this actually happens, that would be pretty wild. I mean when was the last time someone just made a new city? We see cities get built up and change, but have we seen a brand new city be built in the middle of nowhere anytime soon?
Every city has its problems, and sometimes it’s due to them not being fully planned in the beginning. They didn’t plan out expansions or factor in all the growth of population and jobs, etc. This new city will have the chance to either fully plan it or fall prey to the city planners of old. I guess we’ll find out. Tay and I are already wondering how on earth they will price the homes there. If they price them too high, then their whole, “let’s create a diverse city” plan will crumble because only the rich will move there. So, hopefully, they have some affordable homes where we can get a nice Airbnb rental property for all the people that want to visit America’s brand new city!
How Helpful Is Blockchain Technology In Cloud Storage?
https://www.electronicsforu.com/technology-trends/tech-focus/blockchain-technology-cloud-storage
I couldn’t let you go without at least one crypto article, haha! I am very excited about blockchain cloud storage for many reasons. The first being that I had this idea in college, and though I didn’t do anything about it, it’s cool to see that it was a good idea haha!
On a serious note, though, I can see how blockchain cloud tech will become more and more prevalent. Especially if America becomes more and more divided. Hopefully, that doesn’t happen, but if it does, we’re just going to see the censorship and “canceling” get worse and worse. When the main companies in charge of all the cloud storage and website hosting are Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, that’s not great. IBM is there too (had to give them a shoutout) but they obviously aren’t part of the problem.
I think of it this way: blockchain cloud storage is like a virtual version of what Airbnb did.
You have people that want to store stuff in the cloud and then you also have people with extra hard drive space and an internet connection. Why not connect to the two? People that want to store stuff are stuck choosing between the big-name companies and whatever prices they set. People who have extra hard drive space just have a computer in the corner doing nothing but waste space. Blockchain cloud storage can fix both those issues.
That’s a super oversimplification of it. There is a lot of security and whatnot that goes into the files being stored and who gets to store them, etc. But it’s still going to be a cool thing to see get built up.
Alright! That’s about it for this week! Hope y’all have a relaxing weekend and I’ll talk to y’all next week!
