Hey everyone! Welcome back to another Thursday update! The past couple weeks I’ve done posts on my random thoughts and reflections on everyday life (work and routines). Part of that was for the Medium challenge I mentioned in the work blog. Today, however, I figured I should share a little about what is going on in our lives and how y’all can be praying for us! If you have any prayer requests as well, please don’t hesitate to share!
Tay’s Appraising
Tay is working on getting her full appraisal license! Very exciting! She only needs about 500 hours of training and a few classes to get there too. Sounds like a lot to me, but it should be doable within a year. The hope is she can continue doing that when God willing, we move to Asheville. This past Saturday was her first time out in a little while with her dad and she loved it. I sent her a text to see how it was going and she responded saying it wasn’t even like she was working. We’re going to plan on her having at least 1 to 2 weekends a month to go out on a Saturday, look at a few houses, and write up the reports.
My Writing
Many of y’all know I’ve talked about BitClout, NFT’s, and that I’m writing a fiction book. Well, the time is here! I’m planning to release my first book in October! It is a short-story compilation called Life or Death. I have been working on another novella that I am editing and hoping to release in the new year too. I wanted to put this short-story compilation out to test the waters and see what all it takes to self-publish a book. That way I can be better prepared for the novella in 2022. I am releasing some NFT blogs that you will see in the coming weeks that go over some of my presales experiments. I am already releasing the short-story NFT’s on BitClout and have already made about $10 from sales! This isn’t an insane amount, but it’s the most I’ve ever made selling fiction work. So it’s a huge win :)
Furniture Flipping
This is another fun side-gig we want to get into. We love working with our hands and fixing up old furniture. Woodworking is in our blood sort of speak. We both have very mentally challenging, computer-type office jobs, and so we miss working with our hands. We have already fixed up one-bed frame (which we are now using), and working on building a coffee table from some pallets. There is this shipping facility down the road from us that has spare lumber so we just drive by sometimes and grab any pallets they have! Our biggest and most exciting thing of recent is we invested in a table saw! We can make so many straight cuts it’s glorious! Taylor has also recently gotten a hold of a sewing/embroidery machine and is learning to use that. She has plans to sew up some clothes, but we also want to try using the combo to build pallet dog beds to sell.
Asheville
The biggest news at the moment is that we are seriously praying, considering, and planning to move to Asheville in 2022! We have an idea of where in Asheville we want to live. We really love the area near the river arts district (West Asheville). We’ll be 10 minutes from downtown, our favorite coffee shop, tons of great restaurants, the church we are thinking we’d attend, and the climbing gym!
The church is a Summit plant so our hopes are high that they will be a great church with solid backing and solid theological beliefs we align with. We love Asheville so much (as y’all know it’s where we got married) and every time we’re there we wish it was our home. Everyone we talk to when we’re there that has moved there from a big city has no regrets whatsoever. The city has less than 100K residents so even though it has the resources of a big city, it feels like a small city. We would be so so so much closer to all the outdoors activities we know and love.
Except for the beach :/
But we never plan day trips to the beach anyway, so if we’re going to the beach for a vacation, the added 3-hour drive won’t be that bad. We will also be a bit closer to my family so that will make visits to them a lot easier!
Prayer Requests
I think those are the big things going on with us right now. If y’all could be praying about our decision to move to Asheville, God’s will and timing to be known and prevalent, for Him to show us the house to get, and just for that transition as a whole, that would be greatly appreciated!
Ultimately, we desire to live God’s will for our lives, and we want to glorify God in how we spend our time, finances, and using the talents He’s given us.
Again, if y’all have any prayer requests, let us know!
Love y’all!
