Thank you, Lord, for this day. May it be used for your glory!
Good morning and welcome back to another edition of Friday Inspiration!
This week I have 4 articles covering a range of topics, so pick the ones you find most interesting I guess, haha! I have one about DAO’s, one on Biden’s crypto order, one about gas, and one about climbing. Take your pick, or read all 4!
Let’s jump in!
BitClout Founder's New Hustle: 'Coinbase for DAOs'
https://decrypt.co/94708/daodao-bitclout-el-naji
So there is this new platform coming out in April called DAODAO. Pronounced (d-ow d-ow). It is a platform that the entire core team behind the DeSo blockchain has built.
I might have mentioned to y’all a while ago that DeSo was working on launching these smart services instead of smart contracts. If not, here is the idea really fast…
The head honcho idea maker behind DeSo is named Nader. Nader noticed a major problem with developing web3 applications. Most people don’t have the know-how to develop and build smart contracts.
Again, smart contracts, are programs that run on the blockchain. They are complex.
So Nader wants to take the work out and give developers “smart services.” To put it as basic as I can, smart services are just simple lines of code a developer can copy/paste and add smart contract functionality into their web apps. That’s a really simple way of putting it.
They told us their first smart service would be an exchange built on DeSo where people can exchange bitcoin, Ethereum, or whatever cryptocurrency they want with no fees or any weird losses you can get on decentralized exchanges.
Best of both worlds!
Well, along with the release of that exchange will come to DAODAO.
This is a platform they want to release to make it super easy to build and run a DAO.
Remember, a DAO is like a decentralized business. Another analogy people use is a DAO is an online community with a bank account.
They are going to make it super easy for people to invest and be part of a DAO with any currency they want, or even a credit card!
If you want to learn more about the platform, you can also check out the website: daodao.io.
Or watch Nader’s video demo of the platform:
I know I will be trying it out with a book I’ve been working on! I’m thinking I’ll have a fundraising goal to cover professional cover design, editing, etc, and have different votes for some of those things, and then split the profits with the DAO members. I’ll let y’all know how it goes!
President Biden Signs Long-Awaited Crypto Executive Order
https://decrypt.co/94692/president-biden-crypto-executive-order
I know many of y’all heard about this crypto executive order Biden pushed out the other day.
This article does a decent job of laying out what is in the order, though I still don’t fully understand what exactly his order will do immediately.
From this article’s point of view and other podcasts I’ve listened to, I don’t think his order is such a bad thing for crypto.
It gives the entire industry even more credibility and makes it look like the government might actually take regulations seriously. Hopefully, this will mean they don’t just make random rash decisions, but do research, consult experts, and make well-informed decisions on regulations…hopefully.
I know the order also came with a big emphasis on “protecting” US citizens in their investments and innovations. Depending on how far their “protection” reaches, this could be really good. There are a lot of scams and frauds out there in the crypto world, and it almost gives the entire industry a bad name.
Cracking down on that would not be bad at all. The issue is that too much encroachment from the government will inevitably try and centralize and control a decentralized and uncontrollable technology. Which will simply not work.
Burnsville station drops gas to $2.25 a gallon
https://wlos.com/news/local/burnsville-station-drops-gas-to-225-a-gallon
Many of y’all know that Taylor and I are getting ready to move to Burnsville, NC! We are so excited! We’ll be 30 min from all the fun of Asheville, but most of the time we’ll be tucked away in a quaint mountain town filled with outdoors and everything we’d want anyway. It will be a quiet town where we can actually get to know people and build meaningful relationships.
We are excited to be part of that slower, mountain culture, and this article just gives one more example of that culture.
As gas prices continue to rise, the town we’re moving to has one gas station that dropped its price to $2.25!
They couldn’t afford it, they took a huge loss to do it, but they wanted to support the community of Burnsville. I think that’s super cool and very honorable.
Alex Honnold: ‘My new film is almost too much for some people’
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/mar/12/alex-honnold-climbing-the-soloist
Do y’all remember who Alex Honnold is? Remember the documentary, Free Solo? The first guy to climb El Captian without any rope or safety at all? That crazy man?
Well, that’s Alex, and he is not done.
That’s right, climbing 3,000 feet of granite without a rope where if you make a single mistake you die, was not enough for this monster.
He is teaming up with some other top climbers to solo all sorts of extreme mountains and climbs! And he is going to film the whole thing and release it as a VR (virtual reality) experience.
I don’t know what that will be like, but Alex himself thinks it will be too scary for a lot of people to be that immersed in such a risky feat. I for one am very excited to see it.
